A two for one special...
I'm a day/photo behind, so to rectify that, I'm posting two photos today and that way I can catch up with myself.
The first one is from this past Sunday. It's the last shot I took of my nieces that afternoon and it's one of my favorites from the bunch.
I love the look on her face, totally in the moment, candid, not posed. I would love to know what she's thinking at this point. It's fun talking to her, though she can be a little shy at times, but that's okay, besides, they don't see us as much so they aren't as familiar with us as some of the other relatives.
Photo #2
I worked in the garden tonight after dinner for a little bit. It wasn't too bad out, not much humidity, making it a bit more bearable. I was able to get some of the front garden bed weeded, it seems like I just did it and it was filled back in again with weeds. Ugh.
As a treat, I got everything raked up and bagged and then went & got my camera to shoot some of the new blooms. I was checking out my Monarda when I saw this bumble bee cruising the flowers for pollen. This is about the best shot, he/she didn't want to land for very long, lol. I love watching bees in the garden and it makes me feel good when I see them, knowing that I am helping them by having blooming flowers. It bothers me that our bee population is dwindling from all the effects from chemicals, pollution etc.
I know too that the monarch butterfly population isn't what it use to be either. When I was a kid, there use to be tons of monarchs in our backyard (a hour & 1/2 north of where I live now), now I'm lucky if I see more than a couple the whole warm season.
So I'll keep at it, even though I find it frustrating as hell that the weeds keep invading my flower beds, hopefully someday I won't have to weed as much!!
