Happy Birthday to me!!
The day is finally here, my 49th birthday and the day I said I would start posting a photo a day for a year until I turn 50 next year.
It's been a slightly crazy week this past week. I work for a non-profit & we had our major fundraiser yesterday and today I'm still feeling the effects. I was supposed to work today, but my boss gave me the day off.
So a couple of days ago, Lori came in with these for me from her people at the local Habitat for Humanity.
Then the same day (I think, the days towards the end of the week kind of were blurring together!) my boss had went out and got a cake for my birthday. Local bakery, vanilla cake, cream frosting with lemon curd in the middle - oh my god good!! And with white chocolate shavings!
So the previous photos were really shot today, but since it's my blog and my birthday, I figured I could use them.
Since I had today off from work, I slept in, and woke up slow, sitting in front of my computer, reading all the fabulous birthday wishes from facebook (wow!), drinking my coffee that the wife made for me. Finally decided to get a move on and drove to work to see how everyone was doing (they all survived fairly well from last nights festivities.) and then went was heading over to see my girlie at the nonprofit bike shop, when I spotted this gathering:
I was cruising around town, listening to my new birthday cd from Bruce Hornsby and thought momentarily, Oh how cool, they are having a party for me! But then realized that it was a (political type) rally for Benton Harbor - bummer! I would have stuck around, but the guy yelling/preaching into the mike didn't appeal to me so I got back in the car and drove over to where my girlie was.
Did I mention how blessed I am? Here' my girlie & Mike working on my new-to-me-bike. D works so many volunteer hours with this place that she was able to earn a bike for me. I can tell how much work went into the bike, because the rim of the tires are super polished silver! Amazing work! Best present ever from the best spouse ever!
So there you have it, not just one photo but four on the first day of this photographic adventure. See you tomorrow!
