It's blowing in the wind....
I knew that as I saw the sun starting to set & the wind blowing pretty fiercely, that I was going to head to the beach & Lake Michigan. One of the joys of living where we do is the quick access to beaches.
I got there about 5 minutes before the sun was going to set. The clouds where massive, some dark, some even darker, some white & fluffy, the sun shining on them, and all very layered - it was amazing to see.
I headed to the pier because I knew I would be able to capture the waves and sunset better, well at least I hoped so.
These are some of the shots I got tonight. Some aren't as clear as I hoped, but it's really hard to hold the camera w/a telephoto lens steady when the wind is topping 40 mph and coming right at you. :-)
Above photo: When I looked up, the bottom layer of clouds were spinning!
Above photo: South half of the storm clouds that were moving through, the North half were behind me and just as dark.
Above photo: The cloud that were on the backside of the storm cloud. It was amazing to see so many different cloud formations.
Above photo: Heading back to my car, I spotted what was left of the sunset. The triangle object is a work of art that is permanently located on the beach.
I live approximately 10 minutes from the beach. By the time I got home shortly after this last photo was shot, the wind had died down and very little rain had fallen.
