They've served their time...
The other day we were out driving around, running errands and D mentioned that there were a couple of piles of old telephone poles in the vicinity of where we were. So taking a slight detour, we found one of the piles. There have been a lot of changes in this area since they started building the new golf course, which is mostly good since toxic areas are being cleaned up and used for something good instead of being a dumping ground. Of course, these old telephone poles have served their time.
What I found interesting is that some of the insulators were actually made from plastic. Seeing these reminded me that my maternal grandfather use to make hanging planters from glass insulators. Who knows what they are going to do with all this wood, metal, wire, plastic and glass?
I have no idea how long these poles were in place, but they actually seemed to be in pretty good condition. I like the different textures in these two shots. Rough wood, steel spike and wire, subtle coloring on the wood.
